LA-SB Pool League

Rules

 

1.    Starting time is 2:00pm on Sunday for men, 5:00pm for women.  Grace period is 15 minutes.

 

2.    Three players must be present to start the match.

 

3.    If three players are not present, 20 points will be awarded to the fully (3 players) represented team.  Points will go only toward team stats, not personal stats.

 

4.    Dues are $10.00 per player per week x 5 players = $50.00 per team per week.

 

5.    Money must be paid before the first shot.  If one player cannot pay, or is not present, the team will pay the money.  If for some reason the team / player cannot pay all 3 games are forfeited.

 

6.    Home team is responsible to make sure $100 is in the envelope.

 

7.    A $40.00 Sponsorship Fee is required from the “Sponsor” for each team entering the league.

 

8.    A team will consist of 5 regular players and substitute players.  Subs are not necessary if your 5 Regular players are present every week.

 

9.    The completed Roster Form must be turned in before the sixth week of scheduled play begins.

 

10.  Make-up Matches: All make-ups must be played prior to your next scheduled match.  NO MAKE-UP MATCHES DURING THE FINAL WEEK OF THE SEASON.  Contact the captain for make-up games.

 

11.  Visitors break 1st game, visitors break 1, 3, 5, 7, 9,etc.  Home site is responsible for quarters or keys to access the table.

 

12.  Any foreign objects such as hair, clothing, etc. that touches and/or physically moves a ball or balls on the playing surface is deemed a “Foul”.  The opposing player who is currently shooting that particular game may call the foul only.  It’s up to the player if the foul is accepted or not.

 

13.  Any player(s) or team(s) that cause(s) any kind of trouble at these games will be suspended!  An investigation will follow and the findings will be brought to the rules committee by the league officers.  You have 5 min to solve any discrepancy.  If you cannot solve the problem or you leave the bar, you will forfeit your games.

 

14.  A complimentary drink will be provided by the home bar.  You will only receive the kind of drink you started with. For example: You were drinking beer, you get a beer.  You were drinking soda, you get a soda.  Serving of food is optional.

 

15.  All establishments in this league must maintain the following:

 

a.    Headstring and footstring lines drawn on table.

b.    Level table.

c.    Clean and good conditions.

d.    Bridge to be provided for league use.

 

If a dispute does occur from one or more of these conditions it will be put on the sponsor to rectify them.

 

16.  8-ball on break must be marked on sheets and initialed by opposing captain or co-captain.

 

17.  Team captains must rectify any problems before the match.  Only captains or co-captains may approach the table.  Do not shoot the player’s game by telling him/her how to shoot each shot.  Captains and co-captains need not be playing.  Players, captain, co-captains may not touch table during conferences.  Penalty is a foul.

 

18.  Any player(s) and/or team(s) or sponsor(s) that drop out of the league or are asked to leave as a result of a decision by the rules committee will NOT be entitled to any refunds of sponsor fees or prize money or banquet money from the league or league officers for that season.

 

19.  League play will be as follows:

a.    No Slop.

b.    You must verbally call in order, all balls and banks involved in the making of your shot.  You must get acknowledgement in some form (verbal or nodding approval).  You do not have to call a running or adjacent rail.

c.    You DO NOT have to hit the 8-ball.

d.    Combinations are allowed, but you must hit your ball first.

e.    8-ball must be seen going into the verbally called pocket, “clean”.  Running or adjacent rails do not apply.  In other words, touching the rails is legal.

f.     No jump shots.

g.    You may not touch or rest your hands or arms on another ball while attempting a shot.

h.    You must have at least one foot on the floor at all times while attempting a shot.

i.      After a scratch, the object ball the next player is shooting must be all the way over the headstring line.

j.      You must attempt to make all shots.  In the event you and your captain and/or co-captain cannot see a possible shot, you may instead attempt a “legal safe shot”.

k.    Any deliberate “BAD SAFE” (such as hitting an opponents ball or the cue ball in the pocket on purpose to avoid a breakout or to create a “Stalemate Position” or possibly a loss of the game) will result in the object ball that you just shot in being spotted, along with the loss of your turn.

l.      If after 3 consecutive turns by each player, no progress has been made toward the ending the game, a “Draw” will be declared for that game.  Both players will be awarded 1 point each. Players will then proceed to the next game or next set, whichever the case may be.

m.   No split shots are allowed.

n.    After the break, it is still “Choice.

o.    Combinations with the 8-ball, that includes kisses and bumps, etc. are allowed, for women only.

p.    Cue ball knocked off table must be spotted.

q.    Cue ball leaving table, such as riding the bumper, is illegal.

 

20.  Team captains and co-captains are responsible – both teams talk to each other before matches, to clear up any problems.

 

21.  Only 1 non-shooting person can approach the pool table during play, but must be designated by player.  Everyone else must be pool sticks length from the table.

 

22.  Anything not covered by these rules and cannot be settled by the players need to be addressed by the Committee.

 

23. Have fun and use COMMON SENSE to settle minor problems.
